Amresh Shrivastava, MD, DPM, MRCPsych, FAPA; A Consultant Psychiatrist trained from KEM Hospital, Mumbai has spent 35 long years of professional career in India, England and Canada. He has been involved in teaching, research and clinical services. He is well published and claimed several international awards for research and community services. He currently works at the Western University, and Lawson Health Research Institute, London, Ontario, Canada. He is Vice Chair, Positive Psychiatry Section . . He is a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a life fellow of the Indian Psychiatric Society. His areas of interest are suicide behavior, early psychosis, and mental health promotion. Born and educated in India, a country of 1.3 billion people with diverse language, culture and socioeconomic condition gave him immense opportunity to learn. He makes a bold statement about Psychiatric disorders and calls them ‘Psychosocial disorders.' According to him the most critical challenge in mental health today is to end stigma, discrimination, and human right violation. Individuals with mental illness are truly in search of their dignity.
